I'm a Canadian old lady trying to spell kakistrophe and losing my window to comment after becoming a paid subscriber! Much of the history you refer to I've lived as either an observer or a participant. Or have studied. I very much appreciate your posts and feel my pension can stretch to pay for my readings. The remembering you talk about: I moved to the US 20 years with NO knowledge or understanding of American history. I have since learned, and wondered... Since it seemed to affirm why I never felt at ease here. This land is wounded and injured.

There is an African concept of time which was developed or perceived over time which generally has more of a meaning for Africans than for Non-Aficans. But there is a concept of time that is for all of Humanity that was delivered by Allah in The 7th Century to The Angel Gabriel who delivered it to Muhammad who delivered it to Humanity: "Earthly life is not The True Life." (Quran 29:64) In other words Earthly time is not The True Time. In fact in the True Life you are not a prisoner of or in Time or a slave to it because in The True Life there is no Time. In The True Life you are Free Of Time so in The True Life you have all of the Time that you need or want because there is no Time in The True Life. In The True Life you are always On Time even if you are always late. Amen?
I am very grateful for you and your work. The Kentucky public education system of the eighties and nineties failed me so badly that I entered adulthood with massive gaps in my knowledge of history at all levels. I've spent over two decades filling those gaps and your work has helped show me even more I was unaware of.
I am honored to be a subscriber. There were times in my life when I couldn't afford to be, and now that I can, I do. I think that's the way it's supposed to work.

I always told my students the most important Latin phrase is "cui bono," and to always ask it about everything that happens.
